Golf for Kids, benefiting Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, presented by The Albertsons Companies Foundation and The Vons Foundation started as an effort to help the organ transplant program at CHLA.  Many of you might know, in 2007 I donated a kidney to a friend of mine, Dale Davis, whose kidneys had failed him. From that amazing experience, we tried to help raise awareness of the great need for organ donors with the help of Donate Life, but also to help fund research at CHLA that might allow for better treatment options for kids as they lived their new life after a transplant.

About three years ago, our mission changed.  We will always have a special place in our collective hearts for kids undergoing a transplant, but seeing the amazing work of CHLA first hand, we wanted to do more for the hospital as a whole, and the wonderful doctors, nurses, caretakers and staff who have given their professional lives to taking care of our children.  And I do mean OUR children… almost every person who works with this tournament or has played in our tournament has a close connection to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.  It seems everyone has a story and everyone is happy to help.  For the past 10 years, we have tried to maximize our impact on the Hospital, and this year we will again continue to help make possible the life-saving work at CHLA, ensuring that all patients are able to receive the world-class care they need.  ~Phillip Palmer
